Maryamalsadat Mahootiha – Leading Researcher in Deep learning in medical imaging
Maryamalsadat Mahootiha a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Deep learning in medical imaging. She is a dedicated PhD student specializing in survival analysis with a focus on cancer prognosis. Her expertise spans cutting-edge machine learning, deep learning, medical imaging, medical statistics, and data mining. Originally from a computer science background, she seamlessly transitioned into the medical field, augmenting her knowledge with 32 credits from the University of Oslo’s medicine department.
Currently in a year-long visitation at the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, she is actively working towards bridging and transferring knowledge from the United States to Europe. As she enters the third year of her doctoral studies in February 2024, she reflects on her significant contributions to five distinct projects related to survival analysis in cancer, with her latest project being a collaboration with the AIM group in the U.S. 🌟💻🔬
Education
She is currently pursuing her PhD at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO) in Norway, focusing on survival analysis in cancer prognosis. Prior to this, she earned her Master’s degree from the Faculty of Computer and Informatics at Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran from 2018 to 2020. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Alzahra University, Iran, where she graduated in 2018. 🎓💻 Now, she seamlessly combines her computer science background with her passion for medical research in her doctoral studies.
Current Position
🗣️ She is currently a Ph.D. student at Oslo University Hospital in Norway, delving into the intricacies of survival analysis in cancer prognosis. Additionally, from August 2023 to July 2024, she will be embarking on a Ph.D. student visitor role at the AIM lab, affiliated with Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the United States. This unique opportunity allows her to contribute to cutting-edge research and collaborate with experts in the field, aligning with her broader goal of transferring knowledge from the United States to Europe. 🌍🔬 Her dual roles reflect her commitment to advancing medical research and embracing international collaboration.

She has consistently excelled in her academic journey, earning top honors and recognition for her outstanding achievements. In 2018, she achieved the remarkable feat of being ranked 1st among all of her Bachelor’s classmates in terms of Total GPA at Alzahra University, Iran, showcasing her dedication and academic prowess. This trend continued into her Master’s program at Amirkabir University of Technology in 2020, where she once again secured the top position among her classmates in terms of Total GPA. 🏆
