Dr. Laurent Lagadic distinguished academic and researcher in the field Chemical Environmental Safety. Laurent is a Member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) since 1995. He was the Chair of the Scientific Committee and co-organiser of the 15th and 26th SETAC Europe Annual Meetings (~2000 delegates each). He was elected in 2012 as the Vice-President of SETAC-Europe and officiated as President from May 2013 to May 2014. He joined the SETAC World Council from 2012 to 2015. Laurent left the SETAC Europe Council in May 2015 but is still involved in different activities of the Society, including the Endocrine Disruption Testing and Risk Assessment Interest Group (EDTRA IG) and the Sounding Board of SETAC Europe for EFSA’s Stakeholder Bureau.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

He served as the Principal Investigator for two significant research projects. The first project, titled “Genotypic and Phenotypic Response of Vegetables to Pesticides,” was funded by the CUI Research Grant Program (CRGP) with an allocated amount of 0.173 million PKR. Executed over a span of two years from 2008 to 2010, the project aimed to investigate the genetic and phenotypic reactions of vegetables to pesticides, providing valuable insights into the impact of these substances.

The second project, “Enhancement of Adsorption and Photocatalytic activity of TiO2 by doping with metal and non-metal for degradation of azo dyes,” was also conducted under the auspices of the CUI Research Grant Program (CRGP). This project, with a funding amount of 0.27 million PKR, focused on a two-year duration from 2018 to 2020. Its objective was to enhance the adsorption and photocatalytic capabilities of TiO2 through metal and non-metal doping for the degradation of azo dyes. Both projects were completed successfully, contributing valuable insights to their respective fields of study.
