Macquarie University | Australia

Dr. Vanissorn Vimonsatit is a distinguished structural engineer and researcher with a PhD in Structural Engineering from UNSW, an MEng from AIT, Thailand, and a BEng from Kasetsart University. A member of the Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI), she has over a decade of professional engineering experience and a strong record of leadership in research and industry collaboration. Currently serving as the Community of Practice Manager for Sustainable Concrete, Engineered Solutions, and Asset Management at SmartCrete CRC, Dr. Vimonsatit also holds key international roles, including Director of the Bridge Engineering Institute (USA), Regional Representative for Australasia at ISEC, and Vice President of the ASEA-SEC Conference Series. Her research focuses on multiscale characterization of porous solids, low-carbon concrete development, and the integration of graphene and supplementary cementitious materials to enhance performance and sustainability. She has successfully led ARC-funded projects and multiple industry collaborations that have translated laboratory innovations—such as graphene-enhanced and mine tailing-based concretes-into pilot-scale demonstrations and commercial guidelines. A recipient of the CSIRO ON Prime Performance Award (2017), she has been instrumental in bridging the gap between research and practice, guiding projects from innovation to industrial adoption. As Lead Entrepreneur, she applies her expertise in stakeholder engagement, market validation, and technology transfer to advance sustainable, high-performance concrete solutions for the global construction industry.
