He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad in 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Vivek Bajpai, with a thesis titled “Development of high-speed micromachining center and its performance evaluation in micro and diamond turning.” He also holds an M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Manufacturing Engineering from the same institution, completed in June 2018 under the guidance of Prof. Vivek Bajpai. His M.Tech thesis focused on the “Development of vibration-free machine structure for high-speed micro milling center,” and he graduated with first-class distinction, achieving a CGPA of 9.13. Prior to this, he earned a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Govt. College of Engineering & Textile Technology, Berhampore, West Bengal, in July 2016, where his project was titled “Refrigeration with the help of Peltier effect” and he graduated with a first-class CGPA of 8.95. He completed his 12th grade at Sree Ramkrishna Sikshalaya in Howrah, West Bengal, in June 2012 with a first division and a percentage of 87.2%, and his 10th grade at the same school in May 2010, also with a first division and a percentage of 84.75%.

Experience

He has extensive research experience in various aspects of mechanical engineering. His research endeavors include the development of dynamically stable high-speed micromachining centers capable of machining complex micro components from difficult-to-machine materials. Additionally, he has worked on introducing high-speed micro turning techniques to enhance the productivity of cylindrical micro components. Furthermore, his research focuses on reducing cutting forces in turning operations through the utilization of micro-structured cutting tools and Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL). Moreover, he has contributed to the advancement of diamond turning technology by developing cost-effective methodologies employing ceramic bearing spindles to achieve nano-finished surfaces. In terms of teaching, he has served as an Assistant Professor at Swami Vivekananda University in Barrackpore, Kolkata, since March 2024, and previously held the same position at Camellia Institute of Technology in Madhyamgram from July 2023 to February 2024. He also gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant during his M.Tech. and Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, where he assisted in various subjects such as Manufacturing Process Lab, Theory of Metal Forming, Micromanufacturing, Advances in Machining, CNC Programming Lab, and Production Technology Lab.

During this period, he was involved in the mechanical design and construction of power boilers, basic design of water tube boilers, and process thermo-hydraulic design. Prior to this, from 2003 to 2004, he was part of the Pressure Vessel Design Division at M.S.A. in Arak, focusing on the mechanical design of pressure vessels and the thermal and mechanical design of shell and tube heat exchangers. In 2004, he also had brief stints with the Makazi Province Gas Company (MPGC) and the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) in Markazi. His technical skills include expertise in mechanical design and construction of power boilers (ASME, SEC I), basic design of water tube boilers (IHI technology), materials (ASME, SEC II), construction of pressure vessels (ASME, SEC VIII, Div I), shell and tube heat exchanger design (TEMA), mechanical design of pressure vessels (PVElite), thermal design of heat exchangers (ASPEN-BJAC), stress analysis of piping lines (Ceasar II), process thermo-hydraulic design (HYSYS), dynamic modeling of processes (HYSYS Dynamic), and system dynamics study (Bond Graph).

 

He has completed various training courses to enhance his expertise in mechanical engineering and related fields. He underwent a six-month training program in the Pressure Vessel Design Division at M.S.A. in Arak, focusing on projects in the South Pars region. Additionally, he spent three months under the guidance of Dr. Madadi in Shahrood, learning the design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Economics at the University of Douala in Cameroon. Prior to this, he completed his Master of Science in Monetary and Banking Economics in 2018, also at the University of Douala. His undergraduate studies led to a Bachelor of Science in Money, Banking, and Finance from the University of Dschang in 2015. His academic journey began with earning his Baccalaureate A4 in 2012 from Lycee Bilingue de Bépanda in Douala, Cameroon.

He has held various teaching positions in academia. Since 2019, he has been serving as a Lecturer at the Institut Universitaire des Grandes Écoles des Tropiques (IUGET), where his responsibilities include teaching courses in Banking and Finance, preparing and assessing exams, supervising students in their research projects, and participating in pedagogical projects and academic event organization.

In 2020, he also worked as a Lecturer at the Institut Catholique de Bafoussam (ICAB), where he taught courses in Capital Market and was involved in exam preparation and assessment.

Additionally, from 2020 to 2022, he served as a Part-time Lecturer at the Institut Universitaire de Technologie de Douala (IUT) in Cameroon. In this role, he taught courses in DUT, FI at the Department of GLT, facilitated seminars and practical work, monitored and evaluated students, and contributed to pedagogical projects and academic event organization.

In 2023, he completed a certificate on preparing an inventory of greenhouse gases under the Enhanced Transparency Framework by the FAO. Hemamalini Rawindran – Life Cycle Analysis Award – Best Researcher Award

Dr. Hemamalini Rawindran distinguished academic and researcher in the field Life Cycle Analysis. As a Research Officer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in 2023, she was primarily engaged in a project funded by Yayasan UTP focused on analyzing the nutritional values of protein-rich microalgae-palm kernel expeller bio-composite feeds. Additionally, she conducted Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies pertaining to membrane utilization for remediating microalgal wastewater and the upcycling of microplastics in marine environments.

Transitioning to her role as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia from September 2023 to the present, she has been actively involved in a HiCoE project grant. Her responsibilities include the development of a solid matrix polymer inclusion membrane, where she is tasked with creating a mathematical model to evaluate electrodriven ion flux into the membrane. Moreover, she conducts sustainable metric analyses on the polymer inclusion membrane and assesses ion migration using a dual casting solution approach. In addition to her research duties, she is also involved in reviewing technical papers and converting findings into coherent paragraphs for publication.

She holds a PhD in Science by Research (Grade A) from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, completed between 2020 and 2023, which was funded by the prestigious HiCoE grant focusing on the thermochemical conversion of biomass. During her doctoral studies, she notably contributed to the development of a novel attached microalgal system and spent three months on a Fellowship under AMTEC at UTM. She demonstrated remarkable productivity by authoring 7 papers and co-authoring 20 papers. Additionally, she supervised 7 Final Year Project (FYP) students, resulting in 3 Q1 and 1 Q2 publications. Furthermore, she actively participated in educational activities, conducting laboratory sessions and tutorials for undergraduate (UG) students. She also provided assistance to UG students in virtual reality and augmented reality STEM-based classes, showcasing her commitment to fostering learning environments. Her academic excellence was recognized with the High Achiever Award and Graduate on Time (GOT) award.

Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed her Master’s in Science by Research (Grade B) at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS from 2016 to 2019. The individual possesses a robust skill set and extensive experience in various areas of synthetic chemistry, material characterization, and applications of reticular frameworks (RFMs) such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs). His expertise spans from the synthesis and nano-crystallization of RFMs to the development of RFM-based materials like electrospun nanofibrous membranes. He is well-versed in employing diverse synthetic techniques including solid-state, solution-phase, microwave, room temperature, and microfluidic synthesis.

Subsequently, he contributed to the DST-SERB funded project “Development of Pristine Graphene as a Catalyst Support” from 2018 to 2020. This research endeavor was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Prem Felix Siril and Prof. Subrata Ghosh, both esteemed professors at the School of Chemical Science, Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India.
