Dr. Liang Haili  distinguished academic and researcher in the field Mathematics.  Her dissertation focused on the effects of the 5E Learning Cycle on secondary students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. Before this, she completed a B.S. in Optical Information Science and Technology at Sun Yat-Sen University, also a 985 Project institution. Her undergraduate coursework covered Laboratory Electronics, Quantum Mechanics, Advanced Optics, Laser Principles, and Information Optics. Her dissertation involved molecular dynamics simulation of the growth of Ni thin films on Cu (001) substrates. Additionally, she maintained a GPA of 3.4/4.0 and was honored with the third-class scholarship three times during her undergraduate studies.

She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at Beijing Normal University, a prestigious institution recognized under the 985 Project in China. Her research interests include Mathematics Education, Teacher Education, Project-Based Learning, and Mathematical Assessment. Previously, she earned an MA in Mathematics Education from University College London, ranked 8th globally by QS. During her time there, she engaged in diverse modules such as Understanding Mathematics Education, Understanding Research, Educational Testing, and Mathematics for Teachers.

Work Experience

She worked as a Mathematics Teacher at The Middle School Attached to Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China, from September 2017 to August 2020. During her tenure, her class consistently ranked first in the grade for average mathematics scores over three consecutive years. She was also honored with the titles of “Outstanding Head Teacher” and “Advanced Teaching and Research Member” for three consecutive years. Prior to this, she served as the Director of the Mathematics Olympiad Department at Xiao, Advance, a tutoring organization in Guangzhou, from July 2015 to July 2017. In this role, she was one of the key developers of the Junior High School Mathematics curriculum for the Guangzhou Yuexiu Branch, leading a team of over 50 junior high school mathematics teachers from 2015 to 2016. She also taught mathematics for the Guangzhou High School entrance examination, instructing over 300 students, more than 50 of whom won prizes in competitions such as the Hope Cup, ACM-ICPC, and Hua Luogeng Golden Cup Youth’s Invitational Competition.
