Prof Dr. Macaev Fliur Zainutdin  distinguished academic and researcher in the field  Obtaining new compounds with Biological Activity. Born in 1959, Fliur Zainutdin Macaev is a doctor habilitate in organic chemistry, having achieved this title in 2002. He studied chemistry and biology at the Bashkirian State Pedagogical University and earned his PhD from the Institute of Organic Chemistry in Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia, at the Ural Polytechnic Institute in Sverdlovsk, Russia, under the supervision of Academician Professor Ghenrikh Tolstikov in 1990. Following his doctoral studies, he pursued postdoctoral training in vitamin D3 analogues synthesis at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1995-1996) with Professor Jerzy Wicha and in insect-antifeedant synthesis at Wageningen Agricultural University (1998-1999) with Professor Aede de Groot. Since 1999, he has been a prominent member of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, where he serves as the head of the Laboratory of Organic Synthesis.

His specialization includes organic and medicinal chemistry, environmental sciences, nano-chemistry, new catalysts (both metal-mediated and metal-free), asymmetric synthesis, ionic liquids (including magnetic ones), computer-aided molecular design, raw and waste materials chemistry, recycling materials, nano-materials, and bio-films.

Specializing in various aspects of organic and medicinal chemistry, he is currently engaged in projects aimed at discovering new catalytic systems, both metal-based and metal-free, for the asymmetric formation of C-C, C-N, and C-P bonds. Prof. Macaev has received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career. In 1990, he was honored with the prize for young scientific in science and engineering of the USSR, awarded in Kiev, Ukraine. In 2014, he received a Diploma from the Government of the Republic of Moldova for his outstanding results in research. He has been recognized multiple times by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, receiving awards for scientific achievements in 2019, 2014, 2011, and 2003, as well as a Diploma for high-performance results in 2016 and the Diploma “Academic Merit” in 2014. His accolades also include several gold and silver medals from various international exhibitions. Notably, he won the Gold Medal at the International Exhibition of Scientific Research, Innovation, and Invention Pro Invent 2022 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and at the Inventica International Exhibition 2022. He earned Gold and Silver Medals at the International Exhibition “Expo-EUROINVENT” in Iasi, Romania, in 2022, 2021, and 2020, and Gold Medals at the “INFOINVENT” International Exhibition in Chisinau, Moldova, in 2019 and 2018. He has received numerous grants and honors throughout his career. In 2000, he was awarded the Curricular grant PRODEP III/Measure 3/Action 3.2 from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Portugal, for a duration of three months. He then received a PhD grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Portugal, under the reference SFRH/BD/3162/2000. Following his PhD, he was granted a post-doctoral fellowship by the FCT under the reference SFRH/BPD/37016/2007. His research interests are focused on the study of reaction processes in solution, particularly through the identification, characterization, and monitoring of species formed in physiologically relevant reaction mixtures. He primarily investigates the reaction of specific amine targets with α-dicarbonyls, a key aspect of the Maillard reaction. Additionally, he is interested in probing the fundamentals of electrospray ionization (ESI) mechanisms, exploring the fundamental aspects of ESI mass spectrometric techniques. He is also gaining interests in molecular biophysics, particularly in the study of molecular chaperone systems and α-synuclein, utilizing advanced spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques.

Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed her Master of Science in Physical Chemistry at Zanjan University in Zanjan, Iran, from September 2001 to June 2003. Her master’s thesis centered on the synthesis and structural characterization of pyridinocalix(4)arene silver ion complexes and other transition metals, under the supervision of Dr. A.A. Torabi. She initiated her academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry from K.N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, graduating between September 1994 and June 1999, laying the foundation for her illustrious career in chemistry.

 Academic Positions:

He has held various academic positions spanning over a significant period, showcasing his dedication to teaching and research. From 2004 to 2020, he served as a Part-Time Lecturer at Payame Noor University in Tabriz, Iran, where he taught courses in physical chemistry, general chemistry, quantum chemistry, and conducted related laboratory sessions. During this time, he also contributed to curriculum development and assessment activities. Concurrently, since 2018, he has been a Part-Time Lecturer at Alzahra Vocational College for Girls in Tabriz, Iran, teaching subjects including physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, thermodynamics, and water treatment, among others. His responsibilities here also involve curriculum development and student evaluation.

Additionally, since 2018, he has been engaged as a Full-Time Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Institute for Applied Physics and Astronomy, Tabriz University, focusing on investigating the photo-physical and spectral behavior of discotic structures of liquid crystals. Previously, from 2016 to 2019, he undertook another Full-Time Postdoctoral Research position at the same institute, funded by the Iran National Science Foundation (INSF), where he studied the interactional behavior of cancerous tissue and developed mathematical models for cancer treatment optimization.

With a comprehensive background in both academia and research, he has amassed a wealth of experience spanning nineteen years as a Lecturer and nine years as a Postdoctoral Researcher, scientific writer, and thesis advisor at prestigious institutions like the University of Tabriz. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of topics within physical chemistry, including optical properties of drugs/dyes, solution chemistry, spectroscopic studies of drugs, host-guest interactions, and liquid crystals, reflecting his profound commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to the academic community.
