She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical, Inorganic, and Organic Chemistry from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, completed in 2005 with an impressive 91.5% marks. She pursued her postgraduate studies in the same field at Bharathiar University, graduating in 2007 with 80% marks. Additionally, she earned an M.Phil. in Inorganic Chemistry from Bharathiar University in 2008. Her academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, which she completed between 2012 and 2018. Her Ph.D. thesis was titled “Structural diversity and biological evaluation of metal complexes of Schiff bases generated from hydrazine derivatives and α-ketoacids.”

Awards and other Honours

She has received numerous distinctions, prizes, medals, awards, and other honors throughout her academic and professional career. She qualified for the GATE examination in February 2007 with an impressive 85%, securing an All India Rank of 727. She was awarded the Bharathiar University First Rank holder award in M.Sc. Chemistry by the Governor. In July 2023, she inaugurated the “BioInspired Material Research Laboratory” for conducting a DST project at her host institute. She acted as the Chief Guest for the research workshop “Art of Proposal Writing for Research Grants” held on August 12, 2023, at Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, India. Additionally, she served as a resource person in a “Knowledge Sharing Session” conducted by Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi. Recently, her manuscript was selected for the cover page of the New Journal of Chemistry.

Membership

She has been actively involved in various national and international academies and professional societies. In April-May 2006, she completed the STIC’06 summer research fellowship in the field of Infrared and Mass Spectroscopy at IGCAR, Kalpakkam. From May 2014 to April 2017, she successfully completed a DST-WOS(A) project worth Rs. 18,18,517. In October 2019, she was recognized as a Research Supervisor under the Faculty of Science and Humanities (Ref. No. 3470036) by Anna University, Chennai.

Research Experience

As of February 15, 2024, she has extensive research experience, having held various positions in chronological order. She is currently a Women Scientist under the DST-WOS(A) program since April 20, 2023, serving as the Principal Investigator. Prior to this, she held the same position from May 8, 2014, to May 7, 2017, and successfully completed her responsibilities as the Principal Investigator. From September 1, 2007, to September 30, 2008, she worked as a Research Scholar at Bharathiar University, focusing on project work.

She has also been involved in significant research projects, including “Metal Hydrazones as precursors for the synthesis of nanocrystalline metal and mixed metal (spinel) oxides,” funded by DST-WOS(A) with an amount of Rs. 18,18,500 in 2014. Another ongoing project, “Nanostructured bi-functional metal Schiff base complexes and its spinel oxides for biological and energy storage applications,” is also funded by DST-WOS(A) with an amount of Rs. 33,02,620.

In terms of research supervision, she has guided several students. She supervised Mr. M. Arun, who completed his M.E. in Civil Engineering from Anna University in 2021. Currently, she is supervising two B.E. Civil Engineering students, Ms. S. Sangamithra and Ms. R. Jeetha, both of whom are expected to complete their degrees from Anna University in 2024.
