Assoc Prof Dr. Da xu  distinguished academic and researcher in the field Multi-Energy Networks. He received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Wuhan University Of Technology and Hunan University. He is currently a Associate Professor, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan. He was also a Visiting phd student with Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen, Denmark and Research Assistant with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He has gained valuable professional experience across various prestigious institutions. Since September 2020, he has served as an Associate Professor at China University of Geosciences, Wuhan. Prior to this, he undertook a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Macau, Macau, from February 2023 to February 2025, under the guidance of Supervisor Chi-Seng Lam. His earlier professional roles include a stint as a Research Assistant at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, spanning from July 2017 to February 2018, under the supervision of Ka Wing Chan.

In addition to his formal positions, he has also engaged in Visiting Scholar activities, notably at the Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen, Denmark, from November 2018 to November 2019. His academic excellence was recognized with the 2017 National Scholarship for Graduate Student by the Ministry of Education, China, where he achieved the remarkable feat of ranking second in his college cohort. Additionally, he secured the Second Prize of the Wu Wen Jun AI Science and Technology Progress Award, ranking fifth in his group at the Ministerial and Provincial level.

In entrepreneurship competitions, he demonstrated his innovative spirit, winning the National Second Prize in the 2018 China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition and the Second Prize in Hunan Province in various competitions, ranking within the top three in his respective groups.

He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine at the University of London in 1991. Prior to that, he completed his M.Sc. in Ingeniería Eléctrica at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico in 1987. In 2023, his paper titled “A Data-Driven Under Frequency Load Shedding Scheme in Power Systems,” co-authored by Hemin Golpira, Hassan Bevrani, Bruno Francois, and himself, was selected as one of the five outstanding papers by the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems. In 2018, he received the IEEE Power System Dynamic Performance (PSDP) Committee Prize Paper Award for the paper “A Dynamic Mode Decomposition Framework for Global Power System Oscillation Analysis,” authored by E. Barocio, B. C. Pal, N. F. Thornhill, and A. R. Messina. The year 2013 brought him the IEEE Power Engineering Society, Power System Dynamic Performance Committee, Technical Committee Working Group Recognition Award for his contributions to the “Identification of Electromechanical Modes.

” His significant contributions to the analysis of electric power systems led to his election as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2012. Among other notable awards, he received the Knowledge Leadership Award in 2011 for his paper on modal analysis of inter-area oscillations in the Mexican interconnected system.
