Mr. Dawit Dibekulu distinguished academic and researcher in the field language and Literature. His professional trajectory reflects a diverse array of experiences across various sectors. Commencing as an English Teacher at Addis Ababa Administrative City, Efoyeta Secondary School, he embarked on his career journey on February 28, 2015, until September 12, 2015. Transitioning to the realm of public relations, he served as a Public and International Relation Expert at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ethiopian National Cultural Center, from September 13, 2015, to January 23, 2017.

He was born in Ethiopia, East Gojjam, and pursued his education with zeal. His journey began at Woldia University, where he completed his BA studies in English Language and Literature. Continuing his academic pursuit, he achieved his MA in TEFL at Debre Markos University in Debre Markos, Ethiopia.
His passion for academia led him to Debre Markos University, where he initially served as an Assistant Lecturer from February 1, 2009, E.C. to August 23, 2011, E.C. Rejoining the university later, he continued his academic endeavors as an Assistant Lecturer from February 1, 2017, to August 30, 2019. Seeking new horizons, he transitioned to Mekdela Amba University, where he held positions as a Lecturer and ELIC Coordinator from August 31, 2019, to August 23, 2020.
Work experience
He began his career as an English Teacher at Efoyeta Secondary School in Addis Ababa Administrative City from February 28, 2015, to September 12, 2015. In this role, he was responsible for teaching and evaluating students, as well as coordinating the mini media club.
Transitioning into public relations, he served as a Public and International Relation Expert at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ethiopian National Cultural Center, from September 13, 2015, to January 23, 2017. His duties included preparing various materials such as news, brochures, and flyers, as well as speeches for the Managing Director of the Center. Additionally, he was involved in planning and preparing magazines, monitoring printing materials, and coordinating stages and media monitoring.
Moving back into academia, he worked as an Assistant Lecturer at Debre Markos University from February 1, 2017, to August 30, 2019. Here, he taught and evaluated students in the language laboratory and participated in research and community services.
Continuing his academic journey, he took on the roles of Lecturer and ELIC Coordinator at Mekdela Amba University from August 31, 2019, to August 23, 2020. During this time, he taught students, conducted research, advised students, participated in community services, and coordinated the English Language Improvement Center.
His responsibilities expanded further as he became a Lecturer and Research and Community Service Coordinator for the Common Course College at Mekdela Amba University from August 24, 2020, to December 31, 2021. Here, he continued teaching and conducting research while also coordinating research and community service activities and participating in various institutional committees.
Advancing in his career, he took on the role of Lecturer and University Industry Linkage and Technology Transfer Director at Mekdela Amba University from August 31, 2021, to January 1, 2022. In this capacity, he played a key role in facilitating partnerships between the university and industries, as well as managing technology transfer initiatives.
Outside of his professional roles, he also engaged in voluntary work as a Local Coordinator in Ethiopia for Student for Liberty, starting from June 1, 2022, to the present.
CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS
He has actively participated in several international conferences and seminars, presenting research on various topics related to education, language, and literature. Notable events include the 5th International Conference on Education, Technology, and Science in Turkey in September 2021, where he presented on the stylistic analysis of the convincing book “Troy Horse” and other short stories. He also presented at the same conference on the topic of teaching grammar from the perspective of conventional versus contemporary approaches.
In August and September 2023, he presented at the 8th International Conference on Language, Literature, History, and Culture (ICLLHC) in India, where he discussed mourning in selected contemporary Amharic novels. Additionally, he presented on the same topic at GLOBETS 2023, the 7th International Conference on Education, Technology, and Science.
Furthermore, he contributed to the discourse on teaching practices by presenting at GLOBETS 2023 on the topic of teaching reading comprehension in secondary schools. In another instance, at the GlobELT 2021 conference, he addressed challenges encountered by teachers in using literary texts to teach reading skills in selected high schools in Enbse Sar Mider Woreda. Through his participation in these conferences and seminars, he has demonstrated his dedication to advancing scholarship and contributing to the field of education.
Honors and Awards:
He has been recognized for his outstanding contributions and achievements through various honors and awards. Notably, he was awarded the prestigious title of Best Lecturer of the Year by the Ministry of Education on July 8, 2022, for his exceptional teaching prowess and dedication to his students.
Additionally, he was honored as the Best Worker of the Year by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on July 5, 2016, for his exemplary service and commitment to his role.
Furthermore, his academic excellence was acknowledged during his time as a student at Woldia University, where he received the Honored Student award on multiple occasions: on October 10, 2012, September 7, 2013, and April 7, 2014. This recognition underscores his commitment to academic excellence and leadership qualities.
Moreover, he was also recognized as a Honored Student at Debre Markos University on July 5, 2019, further highlighting his consistent pursuit of excellence throughout his academic and professional journey. These honors and awards reflect his dedication, hard work, and outstanding performance in both academic and professional spheres.
