Prof Dr. Nidhi Chauhan  distinguished academic and researcher in the field Biosensor. she worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in New Delhi. She was also awarded the prestigious SERB International Research Experience (SIRE) Fellowship to work at Malmö University in Sweden and received the Best Presentation Award at an international conference on “Recent Advances in Nano Medical Sciences (RANMS2022)” at the University of Delhi. In 2021, she was ranked and selected in the top 2% of World Scientists by Stanford University and recognized as one of the “Top Youngest Authors” affiliated with Amity University in Scopus, having completed over 100 research papers in high-impact journals. She also received the “Outstanding Plus” Researcher and Faculty award in 2021 and 2020 during the annual research and academic performance grading at Amity University, and she was ranked in the top 2% of Scientists of India by Stanford University in 2020. Additionally, she was awarded the title of “Trigger Rider” for achievements in scientific research and innovation for Amity University.

In 2019, she received an international travel grant award from DBT, India, for being a keynote speaker in Paris, France. Her research paper was published as the first author with Nobel Laureate Prof. Barry J. Marshall in 2018, and her research work was highlighted in the online news “Managing diabetes with 3D nanostructured” on Atlas of Science. In 2017, she was awarded the DBT-Indo-Australian Career Boosting Gold (IACBGF) Fellowship to work with Nobel Laureate Prof. Barry J. Marshall at the University of Western Australia for four months and received a Golden Letter of Appreciation from him. She also received the Best Scientist Medal from the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) in 2017.

Her other accolades include the Best Presentation Award at the International Conference on Materials Science & Technology (ICMTech-2016) at the University of Delhi, India, and the Best Poster Presentation Award at “ICRTMD2015” at Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP). In 2015, she received the DBT and ICMR International Travel Grant to attend the Advanced Materials World Congress in Sweden. She was awarded the Most Prestigious Shakuntala Amir Chand Award by the Indian Council of Medical Research, Government of India, in 2014, along with a Visiting Research Fellowship by JNCASR-Bangalore, India. She also received a travel grant from TWAS for a poster presentation at NIMHANS-Bangalore in 2014.

Her other notable achievements include the Second Best Poster Award at the international conference on Health, Environment & Industrial Biotechnology at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, in 2013, the Gold Medal Award for Best PhD Thesis in 2012, and the Best Poster Presentation Award at the National Conference on Carbon Materials 2012 (CCM12) at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. He has extensive research experience, having served as a Junior Research Fellow at the ICAR-National Institute for Plant Biotechnology, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Delhi, India, from October 2023 to March 2024. In this role, he actively engaged in a cutting-edge research project titled “Identification, Molecular Genetics and Functional Characterization of Key Resistance/Susceptible Determinants for Sclerotinia Stem Rot Disease in Oilseed Brassica.” He utilized Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), molecular cloning, molecular breeding, and CRISPR-Cas technology to develop resistant cultivars of oilseed Brassica against various pathogens, with a primary focus on combatting Sclerotinia. Besides his research responsibilities, he instructed MS and BS students, managed projects, oversaw laboratory setup, and coordinated training programs for external participants, including farmers.

Previously, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the ICAR – National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics, Bengaluru, India, from December 2022 to September 2023. He significantly contributed to the Peste des Petits Ruminants Eradication Program (PPR-EP) by evaluating vaccine efficacy and developing ELISA methodologies for accurate disease detection. Using sophisticated techniques such as western blotting and SDS page analysis, he conducted in-depth protein sample examinations, aiding in vaccine formulation. He also played a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing vero cell cultures for experimental purposes.

He has been involved in various plant science research endeavors, contributing to projects such as the molecular dynamics of nematicidal biomolecules produced by bacterial endophytes against Meloidogyne spp. and Pratylenchus spp. infecting banana, the role of bacterial endophytes and nematicidal biomolecules in mediating immune responses in tomatoes, and the analysis of antimicrobial biomolecules against Fusarium oxysporum using molecular docking and simulation approaches. Additionally, he worked on the development of a CRISPR-Cas system targeting starch branching enzymes in rice and optimized Cordyceps militaris fermentation for enhanced cordycepin production and investigated its antifungal potential through in silico and in vivo analysis.

He completed a 6-month Rural Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE) from SKUAST-K in 2020. From 2020 to 2021, he served as a part-time Biology tutor at Iqbal Coaching Centre in Bandipora, India, and volunteered as a tutor and guide for students in his city, both online and offline. He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad in 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Vivek Bajpai, with a thesis titled “Development of high-speed micromachining center and its performance evaluation in micro and diamond turning.” He also holds an M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Manufacturing Engineering from the same institution, completed in June 2018 under the guidance of Prof. Vivek Bajpai. His M.Tech thesis focused on the “Development of vibration-free machine structure for high-speed micro milling center,” and he graduated with first-class distinction, achieving a CGPA of 9.13. Prior to this, he earned a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Govt. College of Engineering & Textile Technology, Berhampore, West Bengal, in July 2016, where his project was titled “Refrigeration with the help of Peltier effect” and he graduated with a first-class CGPA of 8.95. He completed his 12th grade at Sree Ramkrishna Sikshalaya in Howrah, West Bengal, in June 2012 with a first division and a percentage of 87.2%, and his 10th grade at the same school in May 2010, also with a first division and a percentage of 84.75%.

He has extensive research experience in various aspects of mechanical engineering. His research endeavors include the development of dynamically stable high-speed micromachining centers capable of machining complex micro components from difficult-to-machine materials. Additionally, he has worked on introducing high-speed micro turning techniques to enhance the productivity of cylindrical micro components. Furthermore, his research focuses on reducing cutting forces in turning operations through the utilization of micro-structured cutting tools and Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL). Moreover, he has contributed to the advancement of diamond turning technology by developing cost-effective methodologies employing ceramic bearing spindles to achieve nano-finished surfaces. In terms of teaching, he has served as an Assistant Professor at Swami Vivekananda University in Barrackpore, Kolkata, since March 2024, and previously held the same position at Camellia Institute of Technology in Madhyamgram from July 2023 to February 2024. He also gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant during his M.Tech. and Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, where he assisted in various subjects such as Manufacturing Process Lab, Theory of Metal Forming, Micromanufacturing, Advances in Machining, CNC Programming Lab, and Production Technology Lab.
