In 2018, he received the IEEE Power System Dynamic Performance (PSDP) Committee Prize Paper Award for the paper “A Dynamic Mode Decomposition Framework for Global Power System Oscillation Analysis,” authored by E. Barocio, B. C. Pal, N. F. Thornhill, and A. R. Messina. The year 2013 brought him the IEEE Power Engineering Society, Power System Dynamic Performance Committee, Technical Committee Working Group Recognition Award for his contributions to the “Identification of Electromechanical Modes.

” His significant contributions to the analysis of electric power systems led to his election as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2012. Among other notable awards, he received the Knowledge Leadership Award in 2011 for his paper on modal analysis of inter-area oscillations in the Mexican interconnected system.
