He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad in 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Vivek Bajpai, with a thesis titled “Development of high-speed micromachining center and its performance evaluation in micro and diamond turning.” He also holds an M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Manufacturing Engineering from the same institution, completed in June 2018 under the guidance of Prof. Vivek Bajpai. His M.Tech thesis focused on the “Development of vibration-free machine structure for high-speed micro milling center,” and he graduated with first-class distinction, achieving a CGPA of 9.13. Prior to this, he earned a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Govt. College of Engineering & Textile Technology, Berhampore, West Bengal, in July 2016, where his project was titled “Refrigeration with the help of Peltier effect” and he graduated with a first-class CGPA of 8.95. He completed his 12th grade at Sree Ramkrishna Sikshalaya in Howrah, West Bengal, in June 2012 with a first division and a percentage of 87.2%, and his 10th grade at the same school in May 2010, also with a first division and a percentage of 84.75%.

Experience

He has extensive research experience in various aspects of mechanical engineering. His research endeavors include the development of dynamically stable high-speed micromachining centers capable of machining complex micro components from difficult-to-machine materials. Additionally, he has worked on introducing high-speed micro turning techniques to enhance the productivity of cylindrical micro components. Furthermore, his research focuses on reducing cutting forces in turning operations through the utilization of micro-structured cutting tools and Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL). Moreover, he has contributed to the advancement of diamond turning technology by developing cost-effective methodologies employing ceramic bearing spindles to achieve nano-finished surfaces. In terms of teaching, he has served as an Assistant Professor at Swami Vivekananda University in Barrackpore, Kolkata, since March 2024, and previously held the same position at Camellia Institute of Technology in Madhyamgram from July 2023 to February 2024. He also gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant during his M.Tech. and Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, where he assisted in various subjects such as Manufacturing Process Lab, Theory of Metal Forming, Micromanufacturing, Advances in Machining, CNC Programming Lab, and Production Technology Lab.

Prior to that, she completed her Master of Science degree in the same field at Dicle University from 2004 to 2007. In 2023, his paper titled “A Data-Driven Under Frequency Load Shedding Scheme in Power Systems,” co-authored by Hemin Golpira, Hassan Bevrani, Bruno Francois, and himself, was selected as one of the five outstanding papers by the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems. In 2018, he received the IEEE Power System Dynamic Performance (PSDP) Committee Prize Paper Award for the paper “A Dynamic Mode Decomposition Framework for Global Power System Oscillation Analysis,” authored by E. Barocio, B. C. Pal, N. F. Thornhill, and A. R. Messina. The year 2013 brought him the IEEE Power Engineering Society, Power System Dynamic Performance Committee, Technical Committee Working Group Recognition Award for his contributions to the “Identification of Electromechanical Modes.

” His significant contributions to the analysis of electric power systems led to his election as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2012. Among other notable awards, he received the Knowledge Leadership Award in 2011 for his paper on modal analysis of inter-area oscillations in the Mexican interconnected system. Additionally, he was recognized in 2006 with the IEEE Power Engineering Society, Power System Dynamic Performance Committee, Technical Committee Working Group Recognition Award for his involvement in the “Task Force on Assessing the Need to Include Higher-Order Terms for Small-Signal (Modal) Analysis.” Notably, in 1987, he graduated with honors and academic distinction, earning a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering-Power Systems from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico.

He has held a distinguished academic position as a Professor in the Graduate Studies Program in Electrical Engineering at Cinvestav del IPN since 1997. Prior to these international positions, from 1995 to 1997, he held the role of Visiting Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Universidad de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico. His academic journey began in 1986, and over the course of nearly a decade, until 1995, he served as a Professor in the Graduate Studies Program in Electrical Engineering at the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico. Through these roles, he has made significant contributions to the field and has played a pivotal role in shaping the education and research landscape in electrical engineering.

Professional Activities

He has actively contributed to various facets of the electrical engineering community through his extensive involvement in professional committees and editorial roles. From 2023 to 2024, he served as a Member of the IEEE Fellow Committee, demonstrating his commitment to recognizing excellence in the field. In the previous year, from 2022 to 2023, he continued his involvement as a Member. His leadership skills were evident from 2016 to 2019 when he served as the Chairman of the Power System Stability Control Subcommittee within the Power Systems Dynamic Committee at IEEE. In 2013, he became a member of the Editorial Advisory Panel of the Journal Electric Power Systems Research, showcasing his dedication to advancing scholarly publications.

He assumed the role of Editor for the Electric Power Components & Systems Journal in 2013, further contributing to the dissemination of knowledge in the field. Additionally, from 2012 to 2018, he served as the Secretary of the Power System Stability Control Subcommittee within the Power Systems Dynamic Committee at IEEE. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Editorial Board for Electric Power Components and Systems and the International Journal on Power Systems Optimization.
