He earned his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Science (IBS) from the Arkansas Nanomedicine Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, AR, USA, completing his studies between January 2012 and May 2014. Prior to that, he attended medical school at Philipps University in Marburg, Germany, from October 2003 to November 2009.

He specializes as an Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgeon, adept in robotic, minimally invasive, and open surgeries. Additionally, he heads the Stomach Cancer and Peritoneal Carcinomatosis Surgical Center, serves as Deputy Head of the Esophagus Cancer Center, and leads the Surgical Biobank. He is also the Principal Investigator (PI) for the Liquid Biopsy Research Group. His licensure and certifications include being a Senior Explant Surgeon for Donor Surgery: Liver and Kidney (since October 2023) and a Certified Center Surgeon for the Upper GI Tract (since January 2023). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Interdisciplinary Working Group for Clinical Hemotherapy (IAKH e.V.) and holds an additional qualification in Specialized Visceral Surgery (Zusatzbezeichnung Spezielle Viszeralchirurgie) from the Ärztekammer Westfalen-Lippe, Germany, since September 2022. He has received numerous awards, grants, and honors throughout his career. In 2024, he secured industrial grant funding from Johnson & Johnson for a project on surgical smoke exposure investigation in surgical safety, amounting to €169,681, and also received the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV) Travel Award, valued at €5000. He earned abstract prizes for his pilot studies on diagnostic and prognostic tumor markers in adenocarcinomas of the gastroesophageal junction and extracellular vesicles as potential biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma, presented at Visceral Medicine 2023 in Hamburg and NRW-Visceral Medicine 2023 in Essen, each prize valued at €500. In 2022, he won another abstract prize for his work on the long-term effects of liver resection on circulating stem cells in hepatocellular carcinoma, presented at Visceral Medicine in Hamburg. He was recognized as a Medical Scientist by the Else Kröner-Forschungskolleg (EKFK) in 2018 and received a grant of €15,000 from the B. Braun-Stiftung the same year. In 2017, he was awarded €66,000 for young talent promotion by Frankfurt Research Promotion at Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. His achievements also include the Frankfurt Research Prize of the Rudolf Geißendörfer Foundation in 2015, valued at €5,000, and a poster prize at the 19 Chirurgische Forschungstage in Würzburg, Germany, in 2015, valued at €500. He received the second prize for the Cancers Best Paper Award in 2015 and the German Academic International Network (GAIN) Travel Award to attend the 18th European Career Fair (ECF) in Boston, MA, USA, in 2014, valued at €2,000. He was honored with the People’s Choice award for Science as Art at the Nanotechnology for Health Care Conference in Petit Jean, AR, USA, in 2014. Additionally, he was granted $78,000 by the Arkansas Breast Cancer Research Program (ABCRP) in 2013 and received €50,000 from the DFG – German Research Foundation in 2012.

Medical University, Tamil Nadu, in 1995, focusing on Pharmaceutical Chemistry with subjects ranging from Medicinal and Organic Chemistry to Chemistry of Natural Products and Instrumental Chemistry. He then earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Berhampur University in 1999, under the guidance of Prof. P.K Misro and Prof. P.K Panda, specializing in the synthesis and pharmacological studies of new indole derivative drugs and their congeners. Later, in 2009, he achieved a D.Sc. from the same university, delving into Synthetic Chemistry and Biological Evaluation, with a thesis titled “Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of New Heterocyclic Compounds,” supervised by Prof. P.K Misro and Prof. P.K Panda.
