His research endeavors include the development of dynamically stable high-speed micromachining centers capable of machining complex micro components from difficult-to-machine materials. Furthermore, his research focuses on reducing cutting forces in turning operations through the utilization of micro-structured cutting tools and Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL). Moreover, he has contributed to the advancement of diamond turning technology by developing cost-effective methodologies employing ceramic bearing spindles to achieve nano-finished surfaces. Ms. Keru Duan  distinguished academic and researcher in the field  Blockchain application. Keru Duan is a Ph.D. candidate in the research group on Supply Chain and Operations Management at the Birmingham Business School. She obtains a master’s degree in 2020 from the University of Manchester, and also completed her undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom. Prior to her Ph.D. journey, Keru held a two-year tenure as a Senior Business Decision Analyst at Tesla’s Greater China Headquarters. In this role, she was responsible for formulating vehicle production plans and export strategies for the Greater China region, which included setting sales targets and managing logistics operations.

Keru’s current research focuses on the integrated application of blockchain technology, intelligent supply chain management, and closed-loop supply chain management. In the academic year of 2022-23, she actively participated in the pedagogical work of the business school, serving as a seminar tutor for postgraduate level students in the ‘Digital Business Strategy & Data Analysis’ module. This experience has enriched her teaching skills and methodologies.

At present, Keru is dedicated to publishing her research. She is finalizing a systematic literature review that focuses on the application of integrated blockchain technology in supply chain management. Drawing upon her academic background and professional expertise, she aims to develop innovative approaches to address the evolving challenges and complexities within modern supply chains.

Beginning her academic journey at Beihang University in Beijing, China, she initially majored in International Finance, achieving an impressive overall grade of 87/100. During this time, she delved into various essential modules such as Economics, Financing International Trade, Marketing, Personal Financial Services, Investment, and Income Tax.

Seeking further academic enrichment, she transitioned to Coventry University in the United Kingdom, where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance for International Business. Graduating with a commendable High 2:1 Class degree, she engaged with critical modules including Organization Management, International Finance, and Management Accounting for Business Decisions.

Her academic journey continued with a Master’s degree at The University of Manchester, where she specialized in Political Economy. Displaying a high level of academic achievement, she attained a degree level of High Merit. Her coursework encompassed a range of significant topics such as Global Governance, Comparative Political Analysis, and Critical Approaches to International Political Economy. Notably, her dissertation focused on the analysis of environmental regulations concerning haze pollution from the perspective of international political economy.

Currently, she is furthering her academic pursuits at The University of Birmingham, undertaking a Ph.D. in Supply Chain and Operation Research. Her research direction revolves around lockchain TechnologBy Adoption and its Application in Supply Chain Management, showcasing her commitment to exploring innovative solutions in this field.

During her time as a Sustainability Intern at the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, Group of Sustainable Development, she actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at analyzing and promoting the sustainability of bamboo and rattan resources. Working closely with environmental scientists, she contributed to the evaluation of sustainability practices in this sector.

Additionally, she took on a leadership role in supervising new interns tasked with assisting local farmers in restructuring their farms. She played a pivotal role in developing profit models for these farms, which included strategies for crop cultivation, livestock breeding, and farm tourism. Her efforts resulted in the successful design of business proposals, leading to securing a significant investment from angel investors.

With the obtained start-up funds, she executed pilot experiments, procured necessary resources such as seeds and agricultural tools, and initiated marketing campaigns. Through her dedicated work, she significantly contributed to local farmers’ recovery from losses, ultimately leading to a substantial increase in profitability, amounting to nearly 5,000 RMB per person per month.
