He is presently a Ph.D. researcher (Part-Time) in Management from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, India, since 2022. He completed his Masterâs in Business Administration with Commendation from the University of Bedfordshire, UK, in 2021. Additionally, he completed an Executive Programme in Financial Risk & Investment Management from the Indian Institute of Management â Calcutta (IIM-C) in 2012. He also holds a B.Tech. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Calicut, India, which he obtained in 1999.
He is working on a thesis titled “People-Centric Governance Model for Smart Cities” as a part-time Ph.D. researcher in Management since 2022. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an accomplished professional with over 25 years of experience in spearheading major and portfolio project delivery, from front-end development to execution, including system-wide interfacing in design, construction, installation, pre-commissioning/commissioning, and start-up phases, as well as overall inter-discipline coordination, administration, and resource planning. He has the merit of executing high-net-worth onshore, offshore, renewables, and enhanced oil recovery projects valued up to USD 1.3 billion. He directed the entire project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning coordination, planning, and contract management for Basra Gas Company (JV Shell), Petroleum Development Oman (JV Shell), ARAMCO, Al-Khafji Joint Operations, Qatar Petroleum, and Murphy North Sea Field Development, including pipelines, umbilical cables, submarine cables up to 40kV, and submarine cathodic anodes.
He conducted project/portfolio opportunity assurance framing sessions, developed project value drivers and critical success factors, and associated project decision-based roadmaps at the concept phase for major/portfolio projects. He developed stakeholder analysis at the select phase and maintained excellent relationships with government and statutory authorities to avail mandatory sanctions and legalities and obtain necessary approvals prior to the final investment decision or project sanction from the major tender board committee. He managed portfolio capital expenditures (CAPEX) and professional services, entailing preparation of strategies, risk assessments, governance guidelines and policies, tendering, contract preparation, procurement management and planning, benefit savings, bid evaluations, supplier negotiations, and vendor management.
He is resourceful in coordinating, planning, and implementing changes to technology, machinery and equipment, process methodology, direction of quality assurance and control systems, and reporting procedures, exhibiting skills in managing end-to-end shutdown project planning, project execution, and commissioning functions. He directed major and portfolio projects and monitored the execution of works at various sites as per the stipulated norms of the contract pertaining to cost, timeline, and quality, adhering to HSE, legal, and statutory requirements. He performed budget formulation and administration, financial administration, planning, organizing, and scheduling work and performance measurement, and strategized and effectively implemented cost-saving measures. He is an effective communicator with analytical, technical, negotiation, and relationship management skills, coupled with the capability to relate to people at any level of business and management, and has led a geographically diverse team of 60 members spread across 12 nationalities.
During his tenure at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), he received several notable awards. In 2021, he was awarded the Oil South Engineering Silver Award for Capital Efficiency Improvement of the Haima West Water-Flood Infill Project. He earned the Oil South Director Award for Aggressive Cost Reduction Drive in the Marmul Polymer Phase III project in 2016. In 2015, he received the Engineering & Operations Director Award for saving millions by improving capital efficiency design. He was the Gold winner of PDO’s Chairman’s Award for Excellence for the Flare Recovery Project in 2013 and also received the Oil South Director Award for Excellent Management of Major Station Shutdown and the Engineering and Operations Director Award for an Innovative Solution for System Improvement in the same year. In 2011, he was a Silver winner of PDOâs Chairmanâs Award for Excellence for the Nimr Reed Bed Project, which also won several international awards as the â1st Commercial Produced Water Treatment Wetland in the World.” These awards include the Oman Green Awards – The Green Habitat Award in 2013, the Environmental Award from The Regional Clean Sea Organization in 2012, the MEED Quality Awards (National winner) for Sustainable Project of the Year in 2012, the Project of the Year at the CWC Global Water: Oil & Gas Awards in 2012, the GCC Sustainable Project of the Year at the MEED Quality Awards in 2012, the Technology Innovation Award from Frost & Sullivan in 2012, the Oman Green Awards – The Green Innovation Award in 2012, and the Best MENA Oil and Gas HSE Award at the ADIPEC award in 2012. The Nimr Reed Bed Project also received the Industrial Water project award at the Global Water Summit in Berlin, Germany, in 2011, and the Shell award for Best Innovative Project of the Year in 2011. He was also recognized as the Best EPC contractor for Saudi Aramco in 2007 and received the J. Ray McDermott Middle East Quality Award for the Aramco Project Team in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
