From 2003 to 2008, he pursued a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, focusing on mass spectrometry applied to the study of the Maillard reaction at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Professor Maria Helena Florêncio and co-supervision of Professor Carlos Borges. He developed skills in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and hyphenated techniques such as LC-MS and GC-MS. In 2008/2009, he conducted post-doctoral studies in Molecular Biophysics at the Department of Chemistry, Cambridge University, UK, under the supervision of Dr. Sophie E. Jackson, where he worked with ESI-MS (Q-TOF), absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism, isothermal titration calorimetry, capillary electrophoresis, cell culture, and protein purification systems. From 2011 to 2016, he engaged in post-doctoral studies in photochemistry at the Center for Structural Chemistry, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, focusing on the structural and dynamic characterization of early stages in alpha-synuclein fibrillation in the presence of mannosylglycerate, under the supervision of Professor António L. Maçanita

Awards and Honours

He has received numerous grants and honors throughout his career. In 2000, he was awarded the Curricular grant PRODEP III/Measure 3/Action 3.2 from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Portugal, for a duration of three months. He primarily investigates the reaction of specific amine targets with α-dicarbonyls, a key aspect of the Maillard reaction. Additionally, he is interested in probing the fundamentals of electrospray ionization (ESI) mechanisms, exploring the fundamental aspects of ESI mass spectrometric techniques. From September 1, 2007, to September 30, 2008, she worked as a Research Scholar at Bharathiar University, focusing on project work.

She has also been involved in significant research projects, including “Metal Hydrazones as precursors for the synthesis of nanocrystalline metal and mixed metal (spinel) oxides,” funded by DST-WOS(A) with an amount of Rs. 18,18,500 in 2014. In this thesis, she developed a transformer-based methodology to classify consumer health questions effectively, distinguishing them from general consumer inquiries and physicians’ clinical queries. She began her academic journey with a BSc in Computer Science, specializing in Software Engineering, from the University of Isfahan, achieving a GPA of 17.53/20

Experience

She served as a Visiting Researcher at Paris-Saclay University from 2021 to 2022, where she worked on her PhD thesis, “Collaborative Management of Task-Oriented Dialogue System to Satisfy User Intention,” under the co-supervision of Dr. Sophie Rosset and Dr. Anne Vilnat, in collaboration with her thesis advisors at the University of Isfahan. During her stay at Paris-Saclay, she completed rigorous academic research writing and presentation courses that significantly influenced her approach to conducting research. These courses helped her develop the ability to identify research gaps, formulate compelling hypotheses, and systematically investigate them. For example, during the initial phase of her thesis research, she encountered challenges related to data scarcity. Through proactive discussions with her supervisors, she effectively tackled this issue by sourcing valuable and pertinent data, enabling her to construct a comprehensive dataset. Additionally, she was an instructor for the “Principle of Compiler Design” course at the University of Isfahan’s Computer Engineering Department for two semesters from February 2019 to February 2020, where she was responsible for course planning, delivering lectures, and designing assessments for this undergraduate course

Research Focus

She has received numerous honors and awards throughout her academic career. In the summer of 2017, she was awarded honorary admission to the PhD program in Software Engineering for outstanding academic achievement by the University of Isfahan Graduate Studies. From 2014 to 2017, she ranked among the top three students within the Master’s program, achieving the highest position among those specializing in Data Management. During her undergraduate studies from 2010 to 2014, she was ranked as the second top student. She achieved first place in the semi-centralized stage of the 19th Iranian National Collegiate Scientific Olympiad in Computer Engineering in Spring 2014 and was granted honorary admission to the MS program in Software Engineering for exceptional academic achievement by the University of Isfahan Graduate Studies in Spring 2014. Additionally, she attained the 34th position in the final stage of the same Olympiad held in the summer of 2014. Throughout her high school years at Sampad High School, she consistently ranked within the top three students. Furthermore, she received a scholarship from the University of Isfahan to undertake a visiting researcher position at the University of Paris-Saclay, focusing on her PhD thesis.

Han Zhang is a male PhD and Master Supervisor. He received his B.E. and M.S. degrees in software engineering from Wuhan University in 2007 and 2009, respectively, and his PhD degree in Computer Science from Strategic Support Force Information Engineering University, China, in 2020. He is a national graduate education evaluation and monitoring expert, a visiting scholar at the University of Ulster in the UK, a young backbone teacher at Zhengzhou University, and an excellent guidance teacher for innovation and entrepreneurship at Zhengzhou University.

Experience

Han Zhang’s main research achievements are substantial. In recent years, he has presided over four provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, two department-level scientific research projects, and one university-level scientific research funding plan. As the sub-project leader, he participated in one major science and technology special project in Henan Province, one major public welfare special project in Henan Province, and one major science and technology innovation project in Zhengzhou City. Additionally, as the main member, he contributed to one international cooperation project and three provincial and ministerial science and technology research projects. He has published more than 20 academic papers in well-known academic journals both domestically and internationally, such as Information Processing & Management, Information Sciences, Knowledge-Based Systems, Security and Communication Networks, CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, and the Journal of Computer Research.

She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Defense Economics at the Central University of Finance and Economics, where she has been enrolled since September 2021 and is expected to graduate in June 2025. Her major courses include Advanced Microeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, and Advanced Econometrics. Prior to this, she completed her Master’s in Regional Economics at the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC from September 2018 to July 2021, with her graduation thesis focused on the optimal allocation of state-owned assets based on high-quality regional development. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Trade from Northeastern University, where she studied from October 2014 to June 2018 and wrote her graduation thesis on an empirical study of the impact of northeast China’s opening to the outside world on economic development.

Experience

From November 2021 to May 2023, she participated in a project at the Institute of Defense Economics and Management at the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE). As part of this project, she co-authored a paper titled “The role of gold in terrorism: Risk aversion or financing source?” published in Resources Policy in 2024. This research was supported by the “Interdisciplinary of Strategic Economy and Military Integration” of Advanced Disciplines in Beijing Higher Education (Grant No. GJJ2019163-RCPY2021). Earlier, from April to June 2021, she worked as a government affairs intern at Beijing Chaoyang International Technology Innovation Service Co., LTD. There, she was responsible for coordinating with the Comprehensive Department of the Beijing Chaoyang District Development and Reform Commission on the “Urban Economic Brain” exhibition plan. Her role involved communicating design, maintenance, and update plans for the economic information system, database, and data sharing and analysis platform, contributing to the construction of the “urban smart brain” in Chaoyang District.

From November 2019 to September 2020, she served as a research assistant in the Enterprise Planning and Management Department at China Construction Fangcheng Investment & Development Group Co., LTD. She was selected by CCPS and the New Urbanization Research Group of China Construction Group to participate in the benchmarking research of smart cities and enterprises. During this period, she published a paper titled “Non-technical Analysis of ‘Smart City’ Construction — Taking Tianjin Tanggu Bay Project of China Construction Equation as an Example” in Business Culture in 2020. Additionally, from November 2016 to June 2017, she worked as a student assistant at the China Academy of Northeast Revitalization, Northeastern University (NEU). She contributed to a cooperation project between CANR and the China (Hainan) Reform and Development Research Institute, focusing on the evaluation of the comprehensive revitalization of the Northeast old industrial base, and was responsible for data collection and report writing for the 2016 Evaluation Report on the Process of Comprehensive Revitalization of Northeast Old Industrial Base, published by Economic Management Press.
